Staffing companies seek rollout of contract labour rules
The Indian Staffing Federation (ISF) has requested that the labour ministry speed up the provisions regarding contract labour under the Code on Occupational Safety and Health and Working Conditions, 2020, to help remove informality in the workforce, improve compliance and ease business processes. However, the implementation of the codes could be delayed until April 2025 due to several upcoming elections, causing the staffing industry to worry. Suchita Dutta, executive director at ISF, stated that simplifying labour laws and increasing flexibility is necessary to make India more attractive to businesses, and the Contract Labour Act should be implemented earlier to achieve this.
