76 applications received for post of chief information commissioner

The Indian government has received 76 applications for the position of chief information commissioner, which became vacant after the incumbent Y K Sinha's tenure ended. The Central Information Commission, the highest appellate authority in RTI matters, is currently functioning with only four information commissioners out of a total strength of 10 along with one chief information commissioner.
